Tubber (from Irish: an Tobar meaning "the well" – shortened form of Tobar Rí an Domhnaigh meaning "well of the king of Sunday") is a small village located in south County Galway, Ireland.[citation needed] Confusingly the name Tubber is now also used to describe the larger settlement in County Clare to the south of the original village in County Galway. This village of Tubber in Co. Clare is located in the parish of Kilkeedy (which confusingly is usually referred to as the parish of Tubber) and the diocese of Killaloe.[citation needed] The holy well Tobar Rí an Domhnaigh and original post office are located in the parish of Beagh, Diocese of Kilmacduagh, County Galway.[citation needed] In 1885 it was the site of the first GAA hurling tournament, Kilchreest winning.[citation needed]
